We Offer Telepshychiatry

Session Overview

When should I schedule a session with Dr. Grosu?

Many children have ups and downs in their feelings and behavior as they grow up. Thoughtful care from family, friends and your child’s school can sometimes be enough to resolve these issues. For more serious or persistent mental health symptoms, we recommend for your child to see a psychiatrist.

Seeing a psychiatrist is a positive step and will give your child the best chance of recovery. Psychiatric treatment is very effective for children and adolescents with mental health issues. Early intervention can offer an effective treatment and foster healthy development.

If you don’t know if your child has a mental disorder or needs medication or just has trouble in a specific area(s) of life, we encourage you to reach out to us to schedule an appointment so Dr. Grosu can conduct an evaluation.

What to Expect When Meeting with Dr. Grosu?

If you or your child have never had a visit with a psychiatrist, the experience is unique for each person. All sessions with Dr. Grosu will be tailored to meet individual needs and goals for you and your child. Dr. Grosu will assess your acceptance to the practice, and if your care should be provided by another specialist or your child requires a different level of care, he will advise you accordingly.

Some ideas for what to talk about with your child to prepare for a visit with Dr. Grosu:

Your child will have a chance to speak about their feelings and concerns and ask questions.

They won’t be ‘in trouble’ for anything they say.

They will get a say in any treatment that is suggested.

You as a parent may be involved in the entire treatment process.

Prior to your first appointment, we will provide you with a list of forms that must be completed and signed.

During your first appointment, Dr. Grosu will conduct an initial evaluation session to get to know you and your child and understand your reason(s) for seeking psychiatric care. During the appointment, you will discuss your challenges with the doctor in detail and learn about what to expect from subsequent treatment sessions. Dr. Grosu will ask many questions about past treatment history, medications, etc., use his clinical assessment skills to identify problem areas and recommend an individualized treatment plan. If medications are prescribed, Dr, Grosu will review the best available options based on your goals and personal lifestyle.

In subsequent sessions with Dr. Grosu, he will evaluate and monitor your child’s treatment progress, track changes in symptoms, discuss any medication side effects, adjust medication dosage, if necessary, and answer any questions about the treatment plan. He will provide counseling on necessary lifestyle changes, and other non-medicinal recommendations.
